Okay. I need a little working out in my schedule again. While I enjoy walking, the days are becoming hotter. So...I'd like to get a good work-out video. What I'd like:
a) A fairly decent get-your-heart-going workout, but not so much that a pregnant woman would pass out. :)
b) Something that possibly offers a little variety.
c) I'm not so much into yoga. More aerobic, dance-y, like.

Any suggestions? What are the work-out videos that you use/have used that you really loved? I don't want to go buy one if it's going to be a dud, thus the needed input. Help!

I enjoy Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred... it's a good circuit workout- weights, cardio, and abs. Only 30 minutes, so very doable with kids... and definitely gets the heart pumping. 3 different levels so you can make it a bit harder if you'd like.

  2. Congratulations Erika!!! I was back-reading and saw your post on cherry pies. I would LOVE your pie crust recipe. I have only tried to make my own crust once and it didn't turn out that great.

  3. I like Biggest Losers Bootcamp and Jillian Michael's 30 day shred. If you are wanting something a little more low key any of the Walk Away the Pounds with Leslie Sansone are great too.

  4. When I was pregnant I used Leisa Hart's FitMama prenatal workout. I'm not 100% sure what you are looking for so you will have to go Amazon and check it out. It has 1 part salsa dancing and 1 part yoga, which I know you said you didn't like (as well as a few little sessions of stretches). I enjoyed it but check it out yourself!

  5. my suggestion is that you NOT choose something that has you doing a bunch of stuff with weights, because that can raise your blood pressure, which is not good when you're pregnant. especially if you tend to have problems with high BP during pregnancy. so, look for something that does light strength training, light resistance, etc.

  6. I have some Leslie Sansone DVD's.

I've been using Summer Sander's pregancy workout. There is a different session for each trimester, with both a quick and a full length version. There is a light cardio warm-up and then mainly resistance and toning using a resistance band. They end each one with stretching and cool down. There is not a lot of variety but I like it because it keeps my heart rate just high enough that I feel like I'm exercizing without working too hard. :) Plus, they are always using positions that are safe for pregnant women. They emphasize that it's not about losing weight but just being healthy. I try to do it two or three times a week and I feel stronger than I was before.

  8. Oh girl. I just came across a bunch of old Jazzercise instructor DVDs. Let me know if you want to borrow some :) They're kinda old...but that never stopped us before!
