Though hearing about it several times, we had yet to visit this little hidden spot near Junction City.
There was a quarter mile hike from the car to this spot, in which I was carrying a cooler full of food and water bottles. But we made it!
Malia did some entomology hunting.
Ez stood for 15 minutes and watched this water snake sit perched with his head above water until it pounced on this fish. It became the center of attention of all the kids for the next half hour while it made its way across the water and up the adjacent wall of rock, with a fish in its mouth all the while.
